Awake My Soul
We listened to this song by Mumford & Sons at our first Small Groups get-together with the high school girls from Spring Branch Community Church. Though this song can be interpreted in many ways, it's spiritual connotation is more glaring than anything. Listen with an open heart..
Mumford & Sons- "Awake my soul"
How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes
I struggle to find any truth in your lies
And now my heart stumbles on things I don't know
This weakness I feel I must finally show
Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all
But lend me your heart and I'll just let you fall
Lend me your eyes I can change what you see
But your soul you must keep, totally free
Har har, har har, har har, har har
In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love, you invest your life
In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love, you invest your life
Awake my soul, awake my soul
Awake my soul
You were made to meet your maker
Awake my soul, awake my soul
Awake my soul
You were made to meet your maker
You were made to meet your maker
It's a coming of age song - a struggle with the tension of youthful idealism vs. the reality of getting older and realizing that one day you're just not the person you thought you'd be. Lend your eyes to the Lord and you will have an entirely different perception on life than you did before. The little things and little moments become more precious when you awaken your soul. It's your calling and your gift to live with passion. It's a personal wake-up call to re-evaluate one's purpose and (re)start living with some intentionality.
You were made to meet your maker
