So remember at camp or in P.E. when you and your friends probably did something called a "trust fall?" You fall backwards and pray that the person behind you catches you. After being with the high schoolers from my church for a whole weekend and seeing them do this, it got me thinking about "trust."
If we can trust a friend or acquaintance to catch us when we fall and not let us break our head open on the concrete, then why is it so hard to trust other things?
We can trust someone we barely know or only known for a few years to catch us as we fall backwards, but we find it hard to trust in Him who created us and loves us unconditionally.
We trust the banks and government with our money but when it comes to trusting God with our finances and giving to Him, we hesitate.
We gossip and tell our deepest secrets to our friends, but feel we can't confide with the one who is the best listener and the greatest of friends.
The hardest part of trust is thinking it will fail you. You need trust in anything you do. You say: "I can't do it." God says: You can do all things. -Philippians 4:13 You say: "It's not worth it." God says: It will be worth it. -Romans 8:2
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” —Proverbs 3:5-6
Nice insight. I think you would enjoy reading some of the Habitutudes series by Dr. Tim Elmore. You really seem to get reality in an image oriented way that is practical and his approach is very similar. He take a leadership image that, when made an attitude and a habit, helps you grow. It's a cool system.
